A trip to India right here in my family room. I bought this table from target few years back, love the round shape with pedestal base. Many times tempted to paint glad didn’t .
Bone Inlays with mother of pearl are a masterpiece. I wanted to try almost free handed one and did stick with what i know and also my very own simple design : ) .
At michaels , Martha Stewart stencils a few can be used as Indian/Moroccan style designs. I bought them 3 yrs back. Did use one Martha Stewart stencil for the top of the table.. Cuttingedgestencils also sells a variety of inlay stencils.
The before pic : )
The materials used for this project are white acrylic paint, thin artist brush , martha stewart stencil and stencil brush and you could use pearl base paint but i didn’t: ) .
First step is to stencil in the middle , the medallion shape stencil , then i used the old flower candle (pier 1 find ) and traced it with the artist pen.
to this : )
Next is to fill the border with flower shapes. And did paint them, didn’t mind the little blotchy which is ok as it will give a bolder look.
Then just scroll the lines in between them and add “leaves” . And now moving to the rim of the top base, i did add little dots all over .
Now the pedestal, i did free hand the design and also scroll top and bottom with lines and leaves again.
And i used the same medallion kind stencil for the feet but only painted the inner most rim of it which is very small.
And the end result is :
An one more : )
I have seen a price tag of $399 for half a size of this table of course with mother of pearl inlay but for the fraction of the price you can have a Indian bone inlay designed furniture.
Next to window , sunlight shines on it and makes it look even prettier. I’m really happy with it. I did give a coat of sealer after the paint dried completely, so it lasts for a very long time.
Thanks for stopping and for the read!!
